「廣大興」事件尚未落幕，但我國基於人道，在海巡署執行巡護任務時，救起3名菲律賓漂流漁民，外交部現正與菲國洽繫安排漁民返菲事宜。
外交部指出，行政院海岸巡防署艦艇「偉星艦」在7月21日上午8時10分，在我國南方海域執行巡護任務時，於北緯21度16分6秒，東經120度58分8秒海域（鵝鑾鼻東南方37浬處），發現一艘載浮載沈且已破損的菲律賓籍舢舨（無船名），旋將舢舨上3名菲國漁民全數救起。
據獲救的菲國漁民表示，17日，該船與另一艘菲籍舢舨，在菲國呂宋島北部Cagayan省Santa Ana市東北方10浬處，遭「西馬隆」颱風外圍環流影響漂流至外海，另一艘舢舨亦有3名菲國漁民，目前下落不明。
外交部說，「偉星艦」妥善安置救起的3名菲國漁民後，持續於附近海域搜救另外3名菲國漁民，內政部空中勤務總隊亦於21日上午10時40分派機飛往協助搜救。獲救的3名菲國漁民已隨「偉星艦」於22日上午返抵高雄港，由馬尼拉經濟文化辦事處（Manila Economic and Cultural Office, MECO）高雄分處派員安置。
外交部指出，接獲通報後，立即告知馬尼拉經濟文化辦事處駐華副代表艾奎諾（Carlo L. Aquino）等官員，我方救起菲國漁民及持續搜救相關情形；同時聯繫協調馬尼拉經濟文化辦事處高雄分處，派員協助我救援單位後續安置及送返菲國漁民事宜。 (接下一頁)
