為幫助身處逆境的孩子，今年友達透過明基友達基金會推動第8屆「老實聰明獎學金」活動，號召員工進行一日捐，並獲得明基友達集團包括明基材料、佳世達、隆達、景智等10數家公司響應，總計募得1050萬元，全數將做為「老實聰明獎學金」，以幫助桃園、新竹、苗栗、台中、彰化等縣市800多所學校的中小學學童；友達指出，「老實聰明獎學金」8年來共幫助26000名學童逆轉人生。
明基友達集團董事長李焜耀表示，集團的企業核心價值之一就是『關懷貢獻』，友達自2006年來，不論景氣好壞，員工都熱情地捐出一日或多日薪資所得，挹注成為「老實聰明獎學金」基金，今年也擴大獲得集團員工的響應，累計8年來捐款金額已近8600萬元。
他強調，非常樂見「老實聰明獎學金」能給予學童正面向上的力量，也希望孩子們能透過教育，逆轉他們的人生。
為了解學童如何運用獎學金，友達今年針對800多所學校的1500位小朋友發出問卷，問卷回收率為91%，統計顯示奬學金最主要的用途為教育費用，包括繳交下學期註冊費與書籍費、購買學習用品，或存起來做為日後教育費用；其餘用途依次為購買日常生活所需品、支付醫藥費用、繳交營養午餐費等其他用途。
友達說，這份調查資料也說明「老實聰明獎學金」在學童的教育與生活上，提供了很大的幫助。明基友達基金會執行長童文池表示，「老實聰明獎學金為員工自發性參與的長期企業捐款活動，8年來幫助全國26000名的國中小學學童順利就學，也鼓勵他們在面臨困境時，仍保有積極樂觀的態度，將老實聰明人的價值觀延續下去」。
