前債券基金巨擘 PIMCO (太平洋投資管理公司) 執行長埃利安 (Mohamed El-Erian) 週一 (16 日) 預期，美國聯準會 (Fed) 將在本週三 (18 日) 的最新貨幣政策聲明中刪除「耐心」一詞，但還是會運用文字偷渡升息速度不會如投資人想像快的訊息。

現任安聯 (Allianz) 首席經濟顧問的埃利安接受《CNBC》訪問時表示，Fed 預期又會開啟新一輪的「文字體操」，因此他不會意外見到在週三聲明中偷偷加入 Fed 必需「對通膨有足夠信心」才會升息的觀念，好讓市場不急著判定升息時間。

許多市場人士目前預期，Fed 將在今年 6 月自 2006 年來首度升息。但埃利安認為，Fed 官員們將「盡一切可能來確保市場的焦點放在 (通往升息的) 路程」，而非像升息循環尾聲時那樣只在乎升息與否。
