緬甸總統吳登盛23日簽署特赦令，釋放了73名政治犯。預計年底之前，釋放所有在押政治犯。
根據英國國家廣播公司（BBC）報導，緬甸當局將釋放大約73名政治犯，其中一些將被釋放的人來自緬甸克欽邦少數民族。克欽族最近與緬甸政府簽署協議，結束了數十年的衝突。
吳登盛執政兩年多以來，推行了一系列政治和經濟改革，包括解除報禁、先後釋放了數百名政治犯。上周他前往英國訪問，做出承諾，要在今年內釋放所有在押政治犯。目前緬甸監獄中大約還有不到100名政治犯。
為了處理釋放政治犯事宜，緬甸成立了一個19人委員會，審查並決定哪些囚犯是刑事犯，哪些是因為政治原因而被關押的。這個委員會成員包括10名前政治犯、6名政府人員和3名調解人。
