墜機求救　機師為何喊Mayday？

今上午摔落基隆河的復興航空班機，起飛後2分鐘即傳出「Mayday」求救訊號。Mayday是國際通用的無線電通話遇難求救訊號，但是你知道為何是「Mayday」嗎？

根據《Buzz Orange報橘》報導，1923年一位名叫Federick Stanley Mockford的英國人，在倫敦的機場擔任無線電高級通訊員，機場要求他提出一個簡單明瞭的字，做為所有機師及地勤工作人員在緊急時求救。因為當時飛機多數來往法國巴黎，所以他提出法文「Venez m’aider（來幫我）」的「m’aider」，並改為音近的英文單詞「Mayday」。

在1927年《國際無線電報公約》中，並正式決定採用「Mayday」作為國際求救訊號，除此之外，發出「Mayday」信號時，必須連續呼叫三次（Mayday Mayday Mayday），以免誤聽，此緊急狀況是用於船隻、飛機遇到重大危難、無法自救時，需要立即請求他人救援時，就應發出Mayday求救訊號。（即時新聞中心／綜合報導）
