防古畫褪色　新技術辨識主因

義大利文藝復興時期畫壇巨匠達文西的自畫像，近年難敵歲月洗禮，日漸褪色泛黃。有科學家早前研發出新技術，辨認出讓畫作褪色的主因，希望有助保存藝術珍寶，並冀望可應用於其他文物上。

這幅16世紀的紅色粉筆畫，相信是達文西晚年的自畫像，但因長期曝露在燈光及潮濕的環境下，筆觸色彩的對比不復當年。來自波蘭及義大利的科學家最近埋首鑽研技術，透過辨識導致古畫變黃的主因「發色團」（Chromophore），望能防止珍貴畫作變質。

「發色團」是在氧化過程中衍生的化學物，它會吸收紫色及藍色光源，同時打散黃色及紅色的光線，導致文物上驟現黃斑。專家如今可透過新技術，擷取紙張的反射光譜，並推算紙張纖維素的吸光資料。新方法最終能辨識紙張上發色團的多寡，評估其遭受破壞的程度。 參與研究的羅馬托爾維加達大學專家孔特表示，團隊已利用新技術成功評估達文西該幅自畫像，以及其他15世紀古籍變質的情況。此舉有望為保育極具歷史價值的紙製品傳來佳音。（國際中心／綜合外電報導）
